HISTORY AND NEWS
Many people will not be familiar with the Journeyman tradition, so we suggest looking over the following links:
* An article written about the Journeyman II Academy Graduation Ceremony
* Slavemaster visits the Utah Journeyman Academy
In 1995 in the Greater Bay Area of California a leatherman named Master KEE decided to share some of the teachings that had been passed down to him. He contacted the best instructors available to him at the time and created the Journeyman II Academy, an 18-month course for those who, in his words, "knew how and wanted to know why." That phrase has become the motto of the latest incarnation, LeatherQuestCA.
The Journeyman III Academy was started in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1997 By Master Aylett with the cooperation of the original organizers of Journeyman II. In 2005 a Utah graduate named Loki brought those teachings and others back full circle to California, and from 2005 to 2008 was the HeadMaster for two Journeyman III-CA Academy 18-month
courses.
In October, 2008 at the SF Citadel the graduation of the class of 2008 was held, and at that time Loki resigned as HeadMaster, and was presented with his Master's cap.
On March 1, 2009 the name Journeyman Academy was retired. Since then some instructors and graduates have felt that the teachings and processes were to valuable to let go, and with the blessings and encouragement of both Master KEE and Master Aylett, LeatherQuestCA was born.
Like all things, we are a work in progress. LeatherQuestCA will be drawing on past instructors, new instructors, and graduates of both Journeyman II and Journeyman III CA Academies for its teachings and curriculum. We are also returning to some of the leather traditions, protocols, and etiquette taught by Master KEE in the original Journeyman II
Trainings from 1995 to 1997.
